No. Hard no. We cannot stress this enough. TresDuo is about dinner, conversation, and friendship. The spiciest thing at our events is the food. If you're looking for that kind of thing, you're on the wrong website. We're the "let's split dessert and swap podcast recommendations" kind of platform.

How do I sign up?

It's a simple three-step process: (1) Create your account with email or Google Sign-In, (2) fill out your profile — name, city, and optionally a photo and bio, and (3) answer a 15-question personality quiz. Takes about 5 minutes, shorter than most coffee shop lines.

How do I add my partner?

After you sign up, you invite your partner by entering their email. They'll receive an invitation email with a link to join. Once they sign up and accept, you're officially a couple on TresDuo. If they don't accept, well... that's between you two.

You can create an account, but you'll need a confirmed couple to register for dinners. This is a couples platform — every dinner seat is reserved for pairs. Invite your partner and come together!

What if my partner already has an account?

Just invite them using their email. If they already have a TresDuo account, they'll be able to log in and accept your invitation directly.

Do both partners need to complete the personality quiz?

Yes! Both of you answer the quiz independently. Your answers are combined into a single couple profile that we use to form your dinner group. Think of it as a team effort — except you can't peek at each other's answers.

15 questions across six categories: Social style (introvert vs. extrovert vibes), Food preferences (adventurous eater or comfort food loyalist?), Lifestyle (how you spend weekends and vacations), Adventure level (planner vs. spontaneous), Conversation style (deep talks vs. witty banter), and Compatibility (values, priorities, and what you're looking for in friendships). No wrong answers — unless you say you don't like food, in which case we have concerns.

You can update your answers anytime from your profile page. Just scroll down to the Personality section, change any answers you'd like, and hit save. So if your taste in food has evolved from "chicken tenders only" to "I'll try anything once," go ahead and update.

An admin creates a dinner event with a date, time, and restaurant. When registration opens, confirmed couples can sign up. Once enough couples register, the admin triggers our grouping algorithm, which organizes couples into tables of three. You'll be notified when your dinner group is set!

We look at four things: age, life stage, dining preferences, and personality. These factors help us form dinner groups of three couples who are similar enough to get along but different enough to keep things interesting.

What can other couples see about me before the dinner?

Only first names. No last names, no photos, no email addresses, no phone numbers. We keep it minimal so you can walk into dinner without any preconceptions.

Why can't I see full profiles of the other couples in my group?

By design. We want the dinner to be a genuine first meeting. Knowing too much beforehand can lead to pre-judgments. First names are enough to get started — the rest you'll learn over appetizers.

Is my data safe?

We use Firebase Authentication for secure login, all profile photos are stored in Google Cloud Storage with time-limited signed URLs (they expire after 1 hour), and all database queries use parameterized statements to prevent injection attacks. We don't sell your data, and we never will.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to your Account page and scroll to the bottom — you'll find a "Delete My Account" option. This permanently removes your profile, couple, quiz answers, dinner history, subscription, and all other data. You'll need to type a confirmation phrase to proceed. This action cannot be undone.

Who pays for the restaurant bill?

Each couple pays for their own meal at the restaurant. The TresDuo registration fee is separate from the restaurant bill — it covers the group formation, coordination, and your seat at the table. When you arrive, ask the restaurant for separate bills — one per couple. Please don't split the bill as a group.

It happens! Not every dinner will produce lifelong friends, and that's okay. You still get a nice meal out of it. Register for another dinner and meet a different set of couples. The algorithm learns from each event to improve future groups.

Is there a dress code?

Nothing official from us — dress for the restaurant. If the dinner is at a casual spot, jeans are fine. If it's somewhere fancier, maybe don't show up in flip-flops. Use your judgment. You're adults having dinner, not appearing before a judge.

Absolutely! That's the whole point. If you hit it off, swap numbers, add each other on social media, plan a double date — go for it. We just don't share that info automatically before the dinner.

What is waitlist access and how does it work?

When a dinner fills up, subscribers can join a first-come, first-served waitlist. If a spot opens up (someone cancels), the next couple on the waitlist is automatically registered and notified — no action needed. During matching, waitlisted couples may also be pulled in to form additional groups. Waitlist access is exclusive to subscribers.

What's the cancellation and refund policy?

For per-dinner payments: you get a full refund if you cancel at least 72 hours before the dinner. No refund after that. If you register but aren't placed in a group (not enough couples for a full group), you're automatically refunded. For subscriptions: no refund on the subscription itself, but you keep access until the end of your billing period.

What's the no-show policy?

If you're a subscriber and don't show up, a CA$25 no-show fee is charged to your payment method. Per-dinner payers have already paid, so no additional charge applies — but please don't no-show. The other couples are counting on you.

Is my payment secure?

All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment platform used by millions of businesses worldwide. We never see or store your card details.

Does TresDuo get a cut from the restaurants?

No. We do not receive any kickbacks, commissions, or referral fees from the restaurants. The local restaurants keep 100% of what they collect from your meal. Our only revenue is the TresDuo registration fee.

My partner didn't receive the invitation email.

Have them check their spam/junk folder first. If it's not there, make sure you entered the correct email address. You can resend the invitation from your dashboard.

I can't register for a dinner.

A few things to check: Is your email verified? Is your couple confirmed (partner accepted the invite)? Is the dinner currently open for registration? All three need to be true before you can register.

Why wasn't my couple placed in a dinner group?

If there aren't enough couples registered, or if the total number isn't divisible into groups of three, some couples may not be placed in a group for that particular dinner. Register for the next one — more registrations mean more groups.

I signed up with Google but need to verify my email?

If you signed in with Google, your email is automatically verified. If you're still seeing a verification prompt, try logging out and back in.
